Southeast Engine fans will be delighted to know that a handful of tracks left off the 2011 “Canary” release will see the light of day in 2012.  An EP is in it’s final stages, made up of four extraordinary songs that follow along the same  Depression-era story that unfolds in “Canary”.

The great Ben Ashman is getting his iconic solo effort into the hands of his fans this year! Recorded over nearly 4 years, Ben tracked two of the songs at 3 Elliott Studio with Josh Antonuccio. Ben is getting his album mastered this week with Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering.

Columbus, OH band Old Hundred continue work on their sophomore release this month with tracking sessions in full force and wrapping up at the end of the month.  They’ve been criss-crossing the state with their trademark live performances and debuting new material from the record.  Mixing commences in February.  Look for a release later in the year.

2011 saw scores of releases and tracks going out into the world out of 3 Elliott Studio.  A grateful thanks to all of the artists, musicians, and engineers that have carried us into our 12th year.  We’ve got a number of amazing records coming out this year that were wrapped up in 2011, as well as new bands preparing to join us for projects in 2012.

Southeast Engine’s “Canary” ended up on a number of year-end lists for best albums of 2011, including All Music’s Top Folk Albums of 2011Dirty Impound’s 20 Best Albums of the YearThe Onion A.V. ClubHear Ya’s Top 50DonewaitingCaptain’s Dead Top 14The Herald DispatchRazing the BarWOUB (2) (3), and more. Their 5th release also landed the band on NPR’s World Cafe as a “Next Artist” and held a lofty 82 for Universal Acclaim on Metacritic for the year.

The Columbus, OH band Findley. lead by Craig Saarie,  is stopping in for a 2-day session with engineer Josh Richardson. The upbeat rockers are recording tracks for a new release in 2012.

Athens’ own Mindy Braasch has released her new single “Lies” from her forthcoming album, set to be released in December!  Producer Chris Weibel tracked drums at 3 Elliott Studio with Nashville session drummer Mike Radcliffe for this record and Josh Antonuccio played guitar on multiple tracks. Check out this amazing young talent!

Columbus Ohio’s own Old Hundred are making the trek down to 3 Elliott Studio to work on their sophomore album with producer/engineer Josh Antonuccio.  Voted the best band in Columbus last year, Old Hundred has an amazing collection of songs for their newest record.  They will be down at 3 Elliott Studio over the next few months to complete tracking and mixing.  Be sure to look for their release in early 2012.

Josh Antonuccio will be doing sound design for the upcoming episode of the insanely amazing web sci-fi series Aidan 5. This breakthrough series has been attracting a massive fan base for it’s engaging story and noir-ish comic book worlds that live action sequences occur in. Cleveland, Ohio’s own Peter Arnez is in the studio with producer Tanner Simmons.  Armed with a batch of infectious hip hop songs, Peter approaches his music from a diverse background of music, rooted in his love for both hip hop and heavy metal.  He blends a unique style of modern day rap with a metal attitude. Watch for his upcoming performances around the state.
